David has been a pensioned senior police officer since 2000 but is NOT retired. He has been an active church member at St Mary’s since moving into Penwortham in 1974 – on the PCC since 1978 and a Churchwarden since 1997. He has been married to Maureen for 35yrs and has two grown up children now living away but both were christened and confirmed at St Mary’s. He has been Church Hall Manager since 2000. He has also been a parish deanery rep for the last six years and is the Deanery rep on the Friends of Blackburn Cathedral Council. He is also Chair of Governors of Howick CE Primary School and a governor at the other church school in the Parish.
David was brought up in Manchester in a Christian environment. He left his parents home when he joined the Lancashire Constabulary in 1964 serving at various locations until coming to live in Penwortham in 1974. He has an honours degree in Police Studies and has over 40 warranted years of service in Scouting being awarded the highest accolade, the Silver Wolf in 2005. His other hobbies include choral singing.
